How To Ensure Your Spirit Cups Fundraising Success
1. Hold a meeting with all parents who are participating in the fundraiser.
2. Clearly explain the goals of your fundraising and expectations of each participant (our national average is 15 sleeves sold per participant).
3. Emphasize to the parents the amount of money you will raise if each parent reaches the team goal. Use the following analysis:
100 parents sell 15 sleeves=1500sold=$6,000 profit
200 parents sell 15 sleeves=3000sold=$12,000 profit
4. Remind parents that 80% of all sales come through the parents from friends, coworkers and family.
5. Work environments are the perfect place to bring a sample cup and sign up brochure. Encourage those who buy to tell a friend.
6. Suggest a team of parents approach a large retailer (department stores, grocery stores, etc.) to set up a table and small display of cups outside of these locations on a weekend to take orders. (have kids present in uniforms)
7. Request a group of parents to volunteer to sell in small office buildings. They may even leave a sample cup and order form in an office for a day or two.
8. Limit the length of the fundraising effort to 3 weeks or less. This allows your efforts to be focused and maintain enthusiasm.
9. At the halfway point of the fundraiser request a midpoint meeting to see how progress is being made. We suggest each person is called on to disclose how many sleeves they have sold.
10. You may want to offer a prize for the family who sells the greatest number of sleeves. A $25 gift certificate works; remember it’s more about recognizing the individuals so everyone else knows of their success. This can be done on your team website.
1. GREET & ENGAGE: Introduce yourself and engage them with your story.
“Hi, my name is Olivia and I am raising money for my dance studio to compete in Nationals this year.“
2. DISCOVER YOUR CUSTOMER: Find out which team is your customer's favorite.
“Spirit Cups come in your favorite (NFL, MLB, or NCAA) team, who do you cheer for?“
3. ADD ON: Now that you have found out which team they like, ask them to if they know anyone else who would like a Spirit Cup.
“That's great that you have the Patriots, they are my favorite team too! Do you know any other sports fans who would enjoy a Spirit Cup? They make great gifts!“
4. CLOSE: Now that you know your customer's favorite team, it's time to get their information.
“How many Patriots Spirit packs do you need Mr. Williams? Great! May I please have your mailing address and phone number?“
5. THANK & INVITE YOURSELF BACK: Thank your customer for their order and give them an approximate time that you will return (remember, cups will be shipped to your association within 4-6 weeks from when BRAX receives the final order).
“I really appreciate you helping my team go to Nationals! Your cups should be here in 6-8 weeks, and I will give you a call to arrange a time for me to deliver the cups to you personally!“
